My name is Dionne (she/they) and I live near Tacoma Washington. This website is a virtual studio for me to share parts of my creative journey as an artist, junk journal creator, and a writer.
I share parts of my creative adventures here because I want to meet people who are also looking for community and connections with kindred spirits.
I’ve loved drawing ever since I could hold a crayon.
I drew daily until my late teens and after a rough several years in my first adult relationship, I didn’t start drawing again but I did start to express my creativity in different ways.
I started my first business making and selling handmade cards. Unfortunately I had to let that one go, but shortly after my daughter was born in 2003, I started my own children’s clothing boutique selling handmade clothes. I didn’t love sewing but I needed to do this for survival.
After she turned two years old, we started a food blog.
That gave us something to do together. When I took an interest in producing videos for fun and also for sponsored work. that opened up a whole new world of storytelling for me.
In the years that followed I learned how to produce a video that told a memorable story and then began editing videos for other people.
In 2018 when I was laid off from my 9-5, I launched my video production company full time and due to popular requests, I also taught business owners how to record and edit their own videos with their phones.
After 2021 it was time for a reset. I made more really tough decisions and started drawing again to help me with my personal journey I was going through.
This is a small peek at my life and what led to me sharing part of my creative work in this space with you.
And what inspired me to step waaaaaay outside of my comfort zone and plan a micro market in person event, which isn’t usually my thing. But at the time I’m writing this, we need community. And I know I do.
